Welcome aboard, Sunday Morning Comics contributor, Geo Sipp!
Geo’s extensive portfolio of illustrated and printed work is astounding. His craft is unmatched and his processes are extremely varied.
His work, Citroen, pictured above, is part of a larger body of work that will lend itself to his upcoming graphic novel about an American-French Foreign Legion officer during the French-Algerian War. The work consists of both prints and drawings on grained glass - a process I could try to write about, but it’s so much better if you just see it yourself.
Check out a ton more work at Geo’s site.

Welcome, welcome! Keep submitting ya’ll!

Welcome, Sunday Morning Comics contributor, Joseph Lupo.
We’re so excited and happy to have Joe on board for this project. In a lot of ways, Joe’s work is a flagship for this project. It references something so substantial and real, but possesses a careful eye for appropriation - perfectly balancing homage and critique.
Joe’s work typically manifests in the form of CMYK silkscreens, a very close visual relative of four-color offset lithography.
Joe is currently working and living in Morgantown, West Virginia as an Associate Professor of Art at West Virginia University.
Check out the rest of Joe’s work at his site.
Check out a great studio write-up with Joe over on Printeresting.

SO excited to have Joe join the project. Keep submitting!

Thinking about starting a publishing company that, among other things, will specialize in publishing animated gifs. Believe it.

Welcome, Sunday Morning Comics contributor, Rich Grillotti of PIXELJAM.
“Low resolution games for high resolution people.” Pixeljam creates perfectly pixelated and incredibly fun games and pairs them with great electronic music. Their current flagship character, Potatoman, in Pixeljam’s Potatoman Seeks the Troof, aesthetically harkens back to a simpler time of video-gaming, but functionally is no joke. I want to simultaneously pull all of my hair out and clear my schedule for the next month to conquer just the first level.
I came across Rich’s Pixeljam comics one day and loved them. They even have a web platform for you to make your own!
Check out Pixeljam’s Games site.
Check out and follow Pixeljam’s tumblr for more great gifs and stills.

A few notes as you all are prepping your comics to be submitted:
The physical dimensions of a full page spread of the newspaper is 14” tall x 22” wide. When preparing your images, be sure that -
- Horizontal comic strips are AT LEAST 11” wide at 300 PPI
- Vertical strips have an individual panel size of AT LEAST 4” wide at 300 PPI
- Single panel comics are as large as possible so they can be sized down
Our goal is for the publication to be completed by the end of March 2013, but the deadline for the project has not yet been set as we are still gathering contributors. Spread the word!
